Statement From Gov. Cooke On Death Of Lt. Governor Micheal Wendtz

Press Office Of Governor Thomas Cooke

Statement For Immediate Release

March 4, 2024

It is with an extremely heavy heart and great sadness that I announce the passing of New Shire's 25th and oldest serving Lt. Governors, Lt. Gov. Micheal Wendtz. Mr. Wendtz served honorably and humbly by my side, since May 10, 2022, providing me with genuine insight into issues that face this state and will continue to face this state. His service to our State and the United States Of Jesstopia alike have created a better future for this state and the future of this country. His leadership in times of hardship such as the July 2022 bombing that destroyed part of the Nationalist House in July.

He guided me in ways that, I admit at that time, never knew I needed and helped me navigate the attack not only on this state but the country as a whole. His guidance and his mentorship, with him being older than I, was much appreciated and I will forever be indebted to him for the invaluable guidance. His death marks the end of an incredible life cut to short by a hateful, unrelenting disease. His family and I have spoken by phone and his service to this state and this country are, today and always at the forefront of every decision I will make, even if not in this office, but higher office.

His death also ends an incredible leader, with skills unknown to most, but known to so many close to him. His death rips an giant void into this world full of hate, war and discrimination. As Governor and as a Friend, I sincerely send my deepest condolences to the Wendtz family and we will always keep you in our hearts.

Signed,

Thomas Cooke

Governor Of New Shire
